From the Principal’s desk…..

As we put the month of May behind us, we reflect on the many lessons that we endured as we become one year older. The month of June brings with it the light at the end of the tunnel. For some, the excitement of a summer break begins to intensify while for others they are faced with the thought that this will be their last month as a student here at St. Mary’s before they move on to high school. For all of us we celebrate the many talents and gifts that God has given us and remember that it is our obligation to make the best of them.

Staffing…

As the year progresses, we are able to get a better idea as to how our school will look in the fall. We do have some exciting changes for the new school year. As announced in the previous newsletter ,St. Mary’s will be gaining a classroom for the 2007/08 school year. Mrs. Haid will be taking on a grade change while we will welcome Mrs. Kim Buchanan and Mrs. Jacquie Timmermans to our school community. This is great news as it allows us the opportunity to control class sizes especially in the primary grades. The tentative classes for next year are:

Jr. Kindergarten – Mrs.McGrath

Sr. Kindergarten – Mrs.McGrath

Gr. 1 – Mrs.Koebel

Gr. 1/2 - Mrs.Haid

Gr. 3 – Mrs.C. Buchanan

Gr. 3/4 – Mrs. K. Buchanan/Mrs.Timmermans

Gr. 5/6 – Miss Hesch/ Mrs.Ross

Gr. 7/8 – Mr.Haid

Although it is quite exciting to receive news that we will be gaining a classroom, this does mean that we will be getting a portable classroom for September. I realize that portable classrooms are not the ideal but it is something that we will have to deal with temporarily in order to maintain ideal class sizes which are the greater priority. For September, the gr. 3/4 class will be in the portable. Throughout the month of June, staff will have ongoing discussions regarding class lists. Please keep in mind that things change often right up to the beginning of September; therefore, everything must be tentative and will not be finalized until the end of August.

Yearbooks

A special thank you to our yearbook committee made up of Mark H., Taylor D., Zack C., and Zoe L. They are working towards completing the 06/07 yearbook. Please don’t forget to order a copy of this wonderful memento for your family on the order form sent home earlier this week. If you require another order form, please contact the school office.

Sincerely,
