From the Principal’s desk…..

     With the end of the month of November and the onset of December and Christmas, we find ourselves in a state of constant excitement. As the first term is now behind us we are busy preparing our first set of report cards and parent/teacher interviews keeping in mind the Christmas concert is just around the corner.

 

     With the report cards coming home today, it is important to note that assessment is a continuous process of gathering information about student learning and performance over time. Sometimes, assessments help determine what students already know and can do.  Other times, they help teachers know the progress students are making on a certain concept or skill.  Yet other times, assessments are used to determine how much was learned after a unit of study, and help determine report card grades.   At all times, teachers keep in mind the following important principles of assessment.

 

· Respects the dignity of all learners

· Incorporates successful experiences for all students

· Allows for multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning

· Fosters life-long learners and recognizing the God-given capacity of each person to learn and grow throughout their lives

· Reflects the holistic nature of assessment which integrates the nature of learning and faith development

        

      As a result of the school closures in the past couple of days our report cards scheduled to go home earlier in the week are going home today. Unfortunately our interview dates will have to remain the same making it imperative that you fill out your requests for interview times and return them tomorrow. Your patience is requested as we usually have more time to organize our interviews.

Students will be recognized at our Advent Assembly, on Thursday, Dec 6th @ 2:35 p.m.

 All visitors are asked to sign in and out at the office. A VISITOR TAG  will be given. A reminder to parents: Students arriving late or leaving the school prior to 3:00 p.m. must  sign in or out at the office. Thank you for your cooperation. 

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL

 

Dear Parents,

 

The fundraising items have been sent home over the last few days.  The school received a profit of more than $2600.  Thank you for your help in making the fundraiser a success.
